             abstract = "The Leaf Area Index (LAI) is a vegetation biophysical variable 
                         used for various primary production models across scales and 
                         global models of climate, hydrology, biogeochemistry and ecology. 
                         Land use changes have been discussed in the global context of 
                         environmental impacts in the last decades, because they occur on 
                         the earth surface and it influences directly global climate. In 
                         the last decades Remote Sensing has been assuming great importance 
                         in the monitoring of earth natural resources. This study to 
                         estimate albedo data and LAI from the land surface sensor using 
                         the images of Thematic Mapper (TM) sat{\'e}lite Landsat 5 and to 
                         compare with values available in the scientific literature. The 
                         study area is located in the State of Rond{\^o}nia. To carry out 
                         the study four orbital images were obtained from the satellite 
                         Landsat 5-TM in the path 231 and in the row 67, for the dates of 
                         13/07/2005, 30/06 and 16/07 year of 2006, which correspond to the 
                         days 194, 181 and 197, respectively. The image processing was 
                         developed by using the software ERDAS 8.7. The geometric 
                         correction for images was performed and the letters of albedo and 
                         IAF were generated. The algorithm SEBAL estimated, satisfactorily, 
                         the values of albedo and IAF on the surface pasture and forest 
                         (different LAI), consistent with scientific literature.",
